This 14 nigh California outdoors itinerary consists of: 4 nights San Francisco - 4 nights Napa Valley - 4 nights Lake Tahoe - 2 nights Yosemite National Park

Day 1 San Francisco

Start your Fly drive by departing the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to San Francisco. Upon arrival take a taxi, or we’ll arrange a transfer for you, to your preferred hotel where you will spend the first 3 nights of your holiday. San Francisco is one of the most enchanting cities in the USA. From Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world, to Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf, from Union Square to the historic Cable Cars, Chinatown and the Golden Gate Bridge – the city is bursting with things to see and do.

Days 5 to 7 Napa Valley

Driving distance: 57 miles approximately 1 hour

Collect your hire car from the down town location and slowly make your way across the Golden Gate Bridge out to Sausalito and up to Napa Valley. Then enjoy the next few days to the full tasting vintage wines, poking around antique shops and galleries, relaxing in luxurious spas, swimming, playing golf and tennis, floating lazily over the valley in a colourful balloon and enjoying memorable evenings of fine dining.

Days 8 to 11 Lake Tahoe

Driving distance: 188 miles approximately 3 hours

A stunning location offering all the activities you could wish for. In winter you’ll find all manner of snow-sports, fifteen ski and snowboard resorts ring the lake. There are hills for sledding almost everywhere and numerous companies offer snowmobile treks into the backcountry. The summer sun transforms Lake Tahoe ensuring you leave knowing you’ve just experience “the great outdoors” The lake is crystal clear edged with mile upon miles of public beaches fit for swimming, sunbathing, canoeing or building sand castles whilst extensive trails wander hither and yonder to encourage you to hike, bike or take a horse up into the hills where the fresh air is bound to invigorate. The glacier offers skiing all year round.

Days 12 & 13 Yosemite National Park

Driving distance: 130 miles approximately 2 hours

Leaving the lake and stunning resort or Lake Tahoe drive south to Yosemite National Park, best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area. Park rangers are on hand to assist you in planning hikes and cycle routes or simply follow one of the trails to mirror lake, careful of the bears, and experience the true beauty of Yosemite.

Day 15 San Francisco to UK

Driving distance 175 miles approximately 3½ hours

For your last day it’s time to drive west back to San Francisco, there’s a designated “scenic route” to follow between Yosemite and San Francisco taking approximately 3½ hours. We’d suggest you set off, after a leisurely breakfast, spending the day driving east and stopping at all the little towns and places of interest along the way. On arrival at San Francisco airport before return your hire car and check in for your overnight flight back to the UK
