Days 1 to 3 San Francisco
Start your America Holidays departing the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to San Francisco. Upon arrival take a taxi, or we’ll arrange a transfer for you, to your preferred hotel where you will spend the first 4 nights of your holiday. San Francisco is one of the most enchanting cities in the USA. From Lombard Street, the crookedest street in the world, to Alcatraz and Fisherman’s Wharf, from Union Square to the historic Cable Cars, Chinatown and the Golden Gate Bridge – the city is bursting with things to see and do.
Days 4 to 6 Napa Valley
Driving Distance: 60 miles approximately 1 hour
Enjoy life to the full tasting vintage wines, poking around antique shops and galleries, relaxing in luxurious spas, swimming, playing golf and tennis, floating lazily over the valley in a colourful balloon and enjoying memorable evenings of fine dining
Days 7 & 8 Yosemite National Park
Driving Distance: 150 miles approximately 3 hours
Yosemite National Park, one of the first wilderness parks in the United States, is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area just waiting to be explored on foot or bike, follow one of the many trails or take a guided hike.
Day 9 Big Sur
Driving Distance: 160 miles approximately 2½ hours
Leave Yosemite and drive west to the Pacific Ocean and Big Sur your base for the next 2 nights. This stunning location at the top of Pacific Highway 1 leaves you ideally located to visit Carmel and Monterey or the sleepy villages of Cambria, Pimso and San Simeon.
Days 10 to 11 Santa Barbara
Driving Distance: 300 miles approximately 4 hours
Continue your drive down Pacific Highway 1, one of the world’s most spectacular drives in America and guaranteed to create a lasting memory of this magnificent area. En-route to Santa Barbara we recommend that you stop off and visit Hearst Castle. Santa Barbara vibrates with activity – from quaint tree-lined State Street to intriguing art galleries, museums and the interactive Sea Centre not forgetting the lovely long sandy beaches.
Days 12 to 14 Los Angeles
Driving Distance: 120 miles approximately 2½ hours
The question in Los Angeles is never what to do, but where to begin. Los Angeles is home to many famous attractions in a relatively concentrated space. Your choices include amusement parks, architectural landmarks, art museums and galleries, beaches, parks, hiking and shopping, to name a few. After the sun goes down, you’ll find there’s an abundance of nightlife options, including movies (of course!), as well as live music and comedy provided by performers both legendary and yet-to-be-discovered, a region of great diversity where you’ll discover a world of culinary adventures.
Day 15 Los Angeles/ UK
Time for some last minute shopping, sightseeing or relaxing before you reluctantly return your rental car and check in for your flight to the UK from Los Angeles.
