 The Florida Keys are beautiful islands spread some 450 miles out into the gulf of Mexico each slightly different in vibe and atmosphere. Driving is easy with no roundabouts or difficult parking and a steady speed limit.

Full Itinerary - Florida Keys Fly Drive  

 

Days 1 to 2 Miami

Depart the UK on your chosen scheduled flight to Miami. Upon arrival collect your rental car and head for your selected hotel where you will spend the next 2 nights. We'd suggest you take a taxi from the airport and collect the hire car on day 3. The magic of Miami lies in its eclectic mix of influences making it a haven for foodies and shopaholics. South Beach known as Sobe to the locals is a trendy favourite for many with glamorous bars, restaurants, nightclubs and hotels not forgetting the art deco architecture.

Days 3 to 5  Duck Key  (102 miles )

Collect the hire car and set off following the coastal road on your relaxed road trip to explore the Florida Keys.  Driving in the Floridas Keys is very straight forward and there is just one road  - Highway 1. Everything is measured by Mile Markers, start at MM 127 and end up at MM 0  which is when you know you will have arrived at Key West the most southerly island but for this itinerary lets takes it easy and stop along the route.  First stop  Duck Key ,

Days 6 to 8 Key West (70 miles) 

Florida's answer to the Caribbean is the Florida Keys and as you head south you'll recognise the distinctly tropical feel the soft white sandy secluded beaches offer. Key West is a meca for Deep sea fishing and scuba divers with such crystal clear water.  The old town of Key west is littered with art galleries, craft shops, cafes and bars ensuring a relaxed holiday atmosphere.

Day 9 to 11 Key Largo (97 miles)

On leaving Key West follow highway 1 north to Key Largo, the perfect location for exploring the islands of Marathon and Islamorada as well as Key Largo itself.   Home to two state parks, a national park, a national marine sanctuary, Key Largo boasts some of the most fascinating botanical scenery in the state. Its location to the everglades makes it a popular choice for birders and water-sports lovers, hire a kayak and enjoy several hours paddling in the marine sanctuary or perhaps entrol on a divers course, its the perfect place to learn.

Day 12 to 14 Naples (114 miles )  

Naples is an elegant town on the west coast  or gulf coast of Florida on the edge of the Everglades National Park and the perfect location to end this relaxing holiday. Naples old town is complete with stylish bars, fine dining restaurants white sandy beaches littered with little pink shells rather than people and a relaxed welcoming atmosphere.  Its a lovely day out to drive along the coast stopping at  Longboat Kay, Marco Island and Captiva Island all with in a stones through of one another and some of Florida's best kept secrets.

Day 15 Miami back to the UK (121 miles)

Enjoy a last day in Naples before making you way across the infamous Alligator Alley to Miami for your return flight back to the UK.
